Digitale Bildverarbeitung gestützte Meteorologie-Services für Air Traffic Management
Abstract
Air controllers face the challenge to cope with a huge amount of information. Significant information sources are found in images and measurements of current weather conditions.
The improvement of images by weather radar, by combination with other sensors in order to complete uncovered zones and eliminate interference signals without losing important meteorological information, is essential for a more accurate prediction of weather phenomenons and atmospheric conditions, which is an essential factor for the work of air controllers. The uncovered zones of weather radar will be completed by the help of satellite data, which are available for Europe in 12 spectral channels with a time span of 15 minutes, and image processing in a meteorological reasonable manner. In addition to the methods on analysis and improvement of weather radar and Meteosat images, local weather predictions (visibility, cloud coverage) will be performed by commercially available cameras and adequate image processing methods algorithms. The developed methods will be integrated into a productive prediction system.
