Learn and Network

The project Learn & Network applies a dual approach - learning and networking - and stimulates elderly people to adopt new media in a self-determined and self-organized way. The core enabler to actively experiment with new media in the daily lives of elderly people is a tailor-made and age-sensitive Web 2.0 platform taught in three learning scenarios. By using this platform elderly people will be empowered to perform active and sustainable social networking.
The project goals are defined as follows:
- Design of learning scenarios and learning standards to practice key-skills in using using information and communication technologies (ICT) and in particular new media.
- Development of a tailored Web 2.0 platform for elderly people to reduce their barriers against new media
- Embedding the Web 2.0 platform in three learning scenarios and stimulate elderly people to sustainable use this the platform
- Guiding elderly people to actively using new media by providing accompanying ICT courses which take use of the developed platform
The project learn and network is coordinated by Schulungszentrum Uranschek GmbH, the market leader of ICT courses for seniors. The research group intelligent information systems is responsible for research and development of the age-sensitive Web 2.0 platform. youspi assures the usability of the developed platform and the Abteilung für Erwachsenen- und Berufsbildung der Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt brings in the required knowledge in teaching and learning with elderly people. The project Learn & Network intends to empower elderly people to effectively apply Digital Media in day-to-day life.
