Career

Hermann Fuerntratt studied classical guitar for four years at the University of Music and Drama in Graz (Masterclass: Marga Bäuml-Klasinc).

Afterwards he turned to the study of telematics with specialisation in medical informatics at the University of Technology Graz. Beside his employment as tutor at the University, he was active in several software companies developing CAD and hydraulic applications. His masterthesis was about "Development of a software system for acquisition, calculation and visualisation of hydraulic parameters" (in German). Since 1997 he works as research engineer at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Audiovisual Media Group.

After a more than a year lasting employment at a company in England, which was specialised in digital colour correction, he was able to get some deep insight into the world of film and video postproduction.

The main area of work is in object-oriented SW design and distributed SW-architectures.

His programming experience includes C/C++, C#, JAVA, along with ASIO, ATL/MFC, CORBA, CUDA,  DirectX, HTML, OpenGL, VHDL, XML for Windows, Linux, MacOSX, AIX and PocketPCs.
