Career
Helmut Neuschmied attended the technical college for communication engineering and electronics in Innsbruck. He studied Telematics (computer science and telecommunication) at the University of Technology in Graz (1987-1993). At the institute for Computer Graphics and Vision of the same University and at the company AVL List GmbH he began working on his Ph.D. with the topic "Analysis of endoscopic images of cyclical combustion processes in engines". When staying with AVL List GmbH he has also developed a signal processing software for a tachometer (Dispeed 490) which measures the speed of a combustion engine with the help of acoustic and vibration sensors.
Since Helmut Neuschmied completed his doctoral dissertation (1998) he works as a research engineer at JOANNEUM RESEARCH at the Institute of Information Systems. His areas of experience and interest covers media monitoring, multimedia management computer vision in general and project management.
