Ursula Schmitt was awarded a MSc (Geography - branch natural sciences) by the Karl-Franzens University in Graz for her master thesis on "Preparing high mountain satellite image maps ? the example of the Schladminger Tauern".
From 1990 to 1992, Ursula Schmitt worked under contract, and since 1992, she works as a senior scientist and project manager with JOANNEUM RESEARCH, Institute of Digital Image Processing. Her areas of experience and interest cover satellite based and airborne remote sensing and GIS, image classification, as well as education and supervising diploma theses.
Her thematic focal points are environment, forest, vegetation, biodiversity, landscape and settlement structures, in particular in alpine areas. Ursula Schmitt has several years of experience in project management (also international). She has published about 35 papers within her research areas. |
