Career

Günter Nagler studied "Technichal Mathematics" at the Graz University of Technology and finished the theoretical and practical courses successfully in 1990 with his master thesis about "Integration of digital pictures into multimedia systems" and was awarded the title "Diplom-Ingenieur" (Master of Science). Soon afterwards he was employed by JOANNEUM RESEARCH as "scientific employee".

There he worked at first within teams at following successful multimedia projects:

Then he moved to the PC library group, where he joined in development of following very popular hypermedia products that already got several awards: 

His main tasks at the development of those products were of programming userinterfaces for Windows applications in C++, text conversions (e.g. Korean MSWord documents into text with application specific fonts), convert digital picture formats, development of algorithms (e.g. for finding connections between encyclopedia articles from different books for the generation of a knowledge net from computer generated links between articles), CGI script programming (e.g. update products by internet downloads, access to picture archive of DPA (German press agency) within Brockhaus encyclopedia applications).

Since 2007 he works at the project APOSDLE in the areas: annotation of PDF documents (Annotation tool), search and suggest operations, "Task And Competency Tool" (TACT). The APOSDLE work was done using Java, Eclipse, Netbeans.

Since July 2009 he is a member of Institute of Information Systems.

In his leisure time he has acquired much knowledge about digital music and he became a MIDI expert that is well known in the Internet. He already developed many useful MIDI software tools that are used also by professional musicians and recording studios http://www.gnmidi.com.
