Career

Herwig Zeiner studied Technical Mathematics (computer science) at the University of Technology in Graz and at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (graduated 1995). After university he worked as a software engineer on a PC based geographical information system (GIS). Since 1998 he has been project manager at JOANNEUM RESEARCH (EC-projects: MediaCampaign, Bridge-IT, ReGEO, AMICITIA, MALVINE; national projects: AREA-MUMOSIS, MoSeS4eGov).
Special fields of interests are security research, semantic technologies, distributed service oriented applications (Internet of Services, Cloud Computing), data mining, and geographical information systems (GIS).
