Harald Ganster finished his studies on technical mathematics (subject: information- and data processing) at the Institute for Computer Graphics and Vision at Graz University of Technology in 1994 with distinction. The diploma thesis "Computerunterstützte Bildverarbeitung zur Auflichtmikroskopie pigmentierter Hautläsionen" was done in cooperation with the Departement of Dermatology at Vienna General Hospital.
The doctorial studies were finished in 1999 with distinction (Thesis: Automated Melanoma Recognition). During his working period at the Graz University of Technology Harald Ganster has participated in various projects in image processing, especially in the "Forschungschwerpunkt Digital Image Processing" with main interests in "Information Fusion" (math. models). This also included a research visit to the Institut de Recherches Interdisciplinaires et de Développements en Intelligence Artificielle, Universit´e Libre de Bruxelles (IRIDIA - ULB) in Belgium.
In 2000 he changed over to the Institute for Electr. Measurement and Measurement Signal Processing of Graz University of Technology, where he was coworker in industrial and medical image processing projects as well as in topics of basic research (apple quality grading, tooth color recognition, mobile tracking for augmented reality applications).
Since October 2005 Harald Ganster is with the Institute of Digital Image Processing.
During his scientific career Harald Ganster published more than 20 scientific papers in journals or conferences. His research interests are Biometrics, pattern recognition, tracking, fusion, medical image processing. |
