Products and services must be produced and provided in a socially and ecologically compatible manner if the goal of sustainable economic development is to be achieved. The Institute provides the expertise required for this purpose by developing sustainable production technologies based on renewable raw materials and selectively deploying ecologically efficient environmental technologies aimed to minimise pollution. By means of consulting and training services and by developing custom concepts, the experts support sustainable development processes in companies, municipalities and regions. The researchers of the Institute see sustainable development as a cross-disciplinary challenge, a challenge that they tackle by taking a holistic approach. Their expertise in science, technology and socio-economics coupled with their experience with implementation processes in companies and regions allows them to offer total solutions for sustainable development. The wide range of services includes concepts for optimum utilisation of raw materials and development of innovative products and services.
