Culture

The Institute's activities focus on efficient systems for preserving cultural heritage using digital technologies. These systems provide valuable assistance in the seamless management of cultural objects, in planning and designing exhibitions and in networking cultural institutions. They allow experts and visitors to easily access existing information. Innovative and networked multimedia systems are implemented in line with international standards for metadata and protocols.

Media

Digital production methods have firmly established themselves in the audiovisual media sector, providing a broad basis for photo, video, TV, film and game productions. The products are distributed to the customers via various channels and devices, such as broadcasting, Internet, digital cinema, PC, and mobile phones. Our projects integrate content-based and semantic technologies into systems, applications and workflows for the production and distribution of digital content.

Security

The integration of multimodal information, in particular sensor, multimedia and geographic data, creates new applications that qualitatively improve our knowledge about safety relevant processes. Methods for efficiently searching and analysing audiovisual data enhance the effectiveness of modern security systems. These technologies will soon play a vital role in increasing road safety, helping in the fight against crime and mitigating the impacts of natural disasters, while also providing decision support for the protection of critical infrastructure.
