Successful SAMT 2009 Conference
More than 100 participants at the SAMT conference organised by the Institute of Information Systems
The 4th International Conference on Semantic and Digital Media Technologies (SAMT 2009) was held from Dec. 2-4 at Hotel Weitzer in Graz, attracting more than 100 participants from industry and academia. The programme offered keynotes by Roelof van Zwol from Yahoo! and Stefan Rüger from Open University, 21 scientific presentations as well as demos from the European projects VidiVideo, Focus K3D and SALERO an IP coordinated by IIS.
The day before the main conference offered workshops on semantic multimedia databases, semantics in audio processing and three tutorials as well as an industry day demonstrating applications of semantic technologies in the media industry, among others with presentations from the BBC, Blitz Games Studios and the European Broadcasting Union.
The best paper award sponsored by YEAR was presented to Steffen Lohmann, Philipp Heim, Lena Tetzlaff, Thomas Ertl and Jürgen Ziegler for their paper "Exploring Relationships between Annotated Images with the ChainGraph Visualization".
