SolarGain
EU-Project SolarGain is starting with the participation of the MATERIALS-Institute
From 10.-11. November Paul Hartmann und Gerhard Peharz attended the Kick-off meeting for the EU-Project SolarGain in Melton Mowbray, UK.
The main scope of the SolarGain project is the development of a new generation of switchable foils. These foils are attached to windows in order to reflect sunlight during summer and to transmit solar energy during winter time. This will enable a reduction of the heating and cooling load of the entire building. In a first step novel switchable dielectric stacks are developed that are planned to be produced by cost-efficient extrusion methods. Further, the switchable foil, a control unit and photovoltaic cells are integrated into an intelligent and autonomic system to enable substantial energy savings in buildings and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
MATERIALS will develop the electro-optical films.
