W3C API for Media Resources Demonstrator online
(08.10.10 10:23)
Multimedia content is of increasing importance on the web. Today a diversity of formats is use for metadata describing multimedia content. In order to enable finding and accessing multimedia across web sites, an interoperable way for representing this metadata is needed.
The W3C Media Annotations Working Group, to which the JOANNEUM RESEARCH institute DIGITAL is actively contributing, develops an ontology and an API for describing media resources on the web.
An image gallery application has been developed as a first demonstrator of the API and shows how to use the API for unified access to metadata represented in Dublin Core and MPEG-7. The demonstrator has been developed together with University of Passau and Salzburg Research.
The demonstrator can be accessed at http://mawg.joanneum.at/
