abstract:

The economic significance of the service sector has increased enormously in the last decades. While traditionally the service sector was regarded merely as innovation adoptor, today its role as independent innovation producer is widely acknowledged. This study takes account of these recent developments and gives an empirical analysis of the service sector and the respective R&D and innovation activtities for Austria.
