Main Responsibilities

  • Project management in the field of sustainable utilization of renewable resources especially in the field of extraction, distillation, fractionation of extracts and isolation of single plant compounds including accompanying analysis of different plant components (TLC, GC/MS, GC/FID and HPLC/UV-DAD) and their application in products (pesticides and repellents, dietary supplements, anti-cancer drugs, etc.)
  • Stable isotope ratio analysis of essential oils (GC-IRMS)


Career
Susanne Wagner is a graduate of the individual studies Environmental System Sciences with emphasis on chemistry at the University of Graz and at the Università di Siena, Italy. In her thesis she has already dealt with biogenic material, especially with natural antioxidants from plants, and since October 2001 she has been working at JOANNEUM RESEARCH as scientist in the research group of Chemical and Technical Plant Utilisation, which is part of the RESOURCES institute since July 2010. Since January 2009 she is working on her PhD thesis, entitled "Activity-guided isolation of novel compounds with anti-cancer activity from Chinese plant extracts" at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Graz (Supervisor: Prof. Rudolf Bauer).
