Geophysics and Geothermics
The projects of the Research Group for Geophysics and Geothermics focus
on exploring the structure and physical properties of the upper layers of the Earth’s crust from a few decimetres to several kilometres depth.
Fields of activity
- Deep groundwater and geothermal resources
- Exploration and assessment of geothermal potential, thermal, mineral and medicinal water resources
- 3D subsurface models as a basis for the sustainable management of deep groundwater resources
- Fracture models for the optimisation of well paths and geothermal exploitation
- Resource prospecting and geotechnical engineering
- Geophysics for the solution of special geotechnical problems
- Investigation and classification of geological structure in terms of lithology, tectonics and sequence stratigraphy
- Structural analysis for resource exploration
