Career
Michael Lukas studied chemistry at the University of Technology in Graz, specialising in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering and Food Science. In 1998, he left for France where he completed his diploma thesis, researching chiral porphyrins at the University of Rennes (Stéréochimie des réactions catalysées par des porphyrines du ruthénium et du fer). On completion of a second year of studies in Rennes he was awarded the French Diplôme d'Études Approfondies in Fine Chemistry. During his PhD thesis at the University of Graz he investigatied the subcellular localization of proteins in tissue cells via fluorescence microscopy.
