Generation of Digital Surface Models from Very High Resolution Optical Stereo Data in Alpine Regions. 9th High Mountain Remote Sensing Conference HMRSC09, Hohe Tauern,Austria Sept.06, 2006
abstract:
| As an alternative to laser scanning, stereo images with very high spatial resolution are getting more and more used for surface mapping applications, where high accuracy and level of detail is required. Image pairs acquired from spaceborne as well as airborne platforms promise height accuracy in the meter and sub-meter range. In addition these systems in many cases are equipped with the capability to acquire stereo data in a single overflight. Both aspects lead to highly satisfactory digital surface models. In this paper the potential of such high resolution stereo image data to generate digital surface models is demonstrated for an alpine test area in the Ötztal alps. The individual steps of the stereometric processing chain are discussed and the obtained results are analysed with respect to reference data. |
