Main Responsibilities - Vice director of the institute
- Head of the division "Interfaces and Integration"
- Leader of several projects concerning the investigation optical properties of thin films
- Person in charge of the computer equipment at the NMP
Career
Georg Jakopic studied physics at the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). He wrote a thesis on the optical properties of anisotropic solid states at the Institute of Theoretical Physics under the guidance of Prof. Walter Papousek. During this time had also some projects with the optical and optoelectronic industry.
In November 1999 he joined the newly founded Institute fo Nanostructured Materials and Photonics (NMP). Here his work is focussed on the optical (ellepsometric) characterization of thin films.
In January 2002 he became head of the division "Interfaces and Integration". The main task of the research activities in this group is the investigation of the physical processes taking place at interfaces and in the bulk volume of thin films, which are used in the structures of organic and inorganic/organic electronic and optoelectronic devices.
In his spare time he is a big fan of operas and a bathroom-baritone.
Teaching activity
Lecture series about the "Optics of thin films" at the TU Graz.
Lecture series on "Ellipsometry and thin-film spectroscopy" within the university course "Nanotechnology and Nanoanalytics". |
