studied philology, orientalism, history and philosophy (science theory) at the University of Graz

1971 - 1979: research and teaching appointments at the universities of Graz, Hamburg and Münster/Westphalia, working as a publisher’s reader and bookseller between appointments

1979 - 1997: Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), finally Science Editor of the ORF radio station Österreich 1 (Vienna)

Since July 1997: Scientific Director of JOANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH in Graz

Honorary Professor for Media Sciences at the University of Graz

Married to Milenka since 1969; 4 children, 2 grandchildren.
