Career
Following graduation from the University of Leoben as Diplom-Ingenieur in Petroleum Engineering, Dr. Schmid was an assistant at the university's Institute of Geophysics from 1974 until 1981, and at the university's Institute for Prospecting, Exploration and Minerals until 1982. In 1979 he was promoted to the title Doktor mont. From 1982 Dr. Schmid worked for the Institute of Applied Geophysics at JOANNEUM RESEARCH as Deputy Head of the institute. In 1993 he became Head of Operations. Dr. Schmid also teaches at the University of Leoben.
In 1997 he became a chartered petroleum engineer and official expert for water extraction from deep boreholes, geothermy and applied geophysics. Dr. Schmid has published about 50 articles in various specialist journals.
Teaching Activity
Teaching "Drilling for non-petroleum purposes" at the Institute for Geosciences, Department of Sedimentology and Prospection.
