After obtaining a degree in technical physics at the Graz University of Technology he focused himself onto electronics and information technology. Several years at the University of Technology were followed by an employment at a technical software house. During this time extensive international contacts to industry and research, publications and participation in post graduate courses and scientific conferences. Organisation of scientific conferences specially focused on industry; active as a trainer and consultant.
Since 1988 coordinating the information technology at JOANNEUM RESEARCH and later on directing the institute.
Member of advisory boards and responsible leader of numerous studies, consultancy and development projects. Member of ACM, IEEE, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informatik and IACMAG.
