Career

Alexander Almer is senior scientist and project manager at the Institute of Digital Image Processing. He studied Geodetic Engineering - emphasis on Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing - at the Technical University of Graz. The titel of the diploma thesis: "Geometric Treatment of Multisensoral Remote Sensing Data".

He is employed since 1990 at the Institute of Digital Image Processing at JOANNEUM RESEARCH to now and is specialised in the field of image processing with emphasis on remote sensing image processing and data visualisation. He has contributed (and managed some) to several national, ESA and EU research projects and is also involved in some of the EU-Projects. He has more than 25 publications in the field of Remote Sensing and Data Visualisation.

He is involved in general training courses in the field of geometric processing of remote sensing data and the care for diploma students in geodesy as well as in other disciplines, integrating remote sensing image data into their theses.

At present Almer?s research interests concentrate on the field of geometric treatment of remote sensing data and the field of data visualisaton, CD-Rom and internet development.
