Within JR Gerhard Paar acts as project manager for industrial, nationally funded, ESA and EU – funded projects. His major fields of expertise are: - Digital Photogrammetry

Career
Gerhard Paar graduated in mathematics from TU Graz (Austria) in 1987.
Since 1988 he is with the Institute of Digital Image Processing at JOANNEUM RESEARCH in Graz, Austria. As head of the close range photogrammetry group he leads the development team for the photogrammetric tunnel metrology system Dibit, one of the first fully automatic industrial close-range photogrammetry systems for non-expert users world-wide. Gerhard Paar coordinates the PanCam 3D Vision Team for the 2016 European Mars Rover Mission ExoMars and the EC FP7-Space Project “PRoVisG – Planetary Robotic Vision Ground Processing”, as well as the Austrian FIT-IT Project VILMA (High Resolution Mapping and Visualization of Linear Structures). He is key-researcher for Features, Recognition & Matching within the Austrian KProjekt Centre of Competence Embedded Computer Vision (ECV).

Awards: - 1993:Best paper award at the annual Conference of the Austrian Association for Pattern Recognition.
