Career

Lucas Paletta received the Diploma degree in 1996 and the Doctoral degree in Computer Science in 2000 from Graz University of Technology, Austria, respectively. In 1996 - 1998, the worked within the collaborative Austrian Research Program on the task of ?Information Fusion and Physical Models for Image Understanding?. In 1998-2000, he stayed at the Fraunhofer Institute for Autonomous Intelligent Systems (formerly GMD) in Germany, within the EU-TMR research network 'Vision-Based Robot Navigation' (VIRGO).

From 2000 he is working at the Institute of Digital Image Processing, Joanneum Research, at Graz. He has been principal investigator in several national and international projects, e.g. within the EC ?Cognitive Vision Systems? initiative and within the Austrian Centre of Competence "ACV - Advanced Computer Vision" in the Area "Pattern Recognition". He has published more than 30 scientific articles.

His research interests include cognitive vision, mobile computing, robot vision, machine learning, and multi-sensor information fusion.
