After finishing his studies of geosciences at the Karl Franzens University in Graz and mining geology at the Mining University in Leoben with a degree in mining geology (MSc) with a sedimentological thesis in 1986, Herwig Proske joined the Institute of Environmental Geology and Ecosystems Research of JOANNEUM RESEARCH. Until 2002 he worked as a scientific employee and project manager in numerous projects in the areas of waste management, exploration of raw materials, hydrogeology and natural hazards. He was also lecturing at the Karl Franzens University (pedological and geomorphological practicals). In the year 2002 he changed to the Institute of Digital Image Processing, Department of Remote Sensing. Main activities are the management and work on projects within the fields of geohazards and climate change.
