Career
Thomas Schnabel studied Informationmanagement at the JOANNEUM University of applied science, which is located in the city Graz (Austria). Accompanying to his study he worked at JOANNEUM RESEARCH, institute of digital image processing. His focal points of work were the development of online and offline multimedia applications based on geographical information including real-time 3D-visualisation.
He has more than 6 years of experience in the field of IT system architecture, databases, web applications and various visualization techniques. Since 2004, he has been employed at the Institute of Digital Image Processing, and has the responsibility for research and development in the field of WebGIS, visualisation and web applications. He contributed to numerous national and EU research projects and has several publications in the field of Location-Based Services, Geo-Visualisation and multiplatform application concepts.
His research interests concentrate on WebGIS solutions, multiplatform, decentralized data management, security applications and decision-support systems.
