abstract:
| This project as a part of an OECD project aimed for a comprehensive survey of public research institutes in order to cover their roles, positions and embedding in the national research and innovation system. The broad applied definition of public research institutes included temporary institutes and predominantly publicly funded private institutes. Approximately 550 public research institutes have been addressed to report mission, resent developments, activities, relations with other actors, funding structures, employment structures and governance. Analysis based on these data resulted in findings for a typology relevant for public steering and provide an overview about the public research institutes’ landscape in Austria.
