BRIDGE-IT - Bringing Innovative Developments for Geographic Information Technology

BRIDGE-IT was a research and development project supported by the European Union within the Fifth Framework Programme (DG Information Society, Action Line, Use of Geographic Information) as a shared-cost action and the project was supported by the IST programme (Information Society Technologies).

The BRIDGE-IT consortium relied on complementary skills brought by European-level key actors in Geographic Information and applications, including content providers, GIS editors, software industry and integrators, research teams and universities, market owners and service providers for private or public applications.

The work of JOANNEUM RESEARCH focused on the concepts and principles for multimedia assets (especially videos) aiming to provide easier access to geographically relevant views on urban areas; e.g. geo-referenced videos can be a great support in the management process of urban communities.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH worked on the integration of multimedia data in web-based geographical information systems for applications in transport & mobility, real estate, and territorial information systems. The technology achievements were demonstrated with targeted users or customers such as local authorities and private operators through representative and real scale applications scenarios. A specific study addressed business and contractual issues impairing a true boost of geographic information applications.
