The Learn & Network project encourages older people to use new media using a dual approach of instruction and introduction to networks. An integral element shared by the three learning scenarios related to the use of new media is a Web 2.0 platform that has been customized to meet the needs of people 50+. In this way, older people are able to use this media to network with one other another actively and sustainably.

The project objectives are defined as follows:

• Development of learning scenarios and standards for the sustainable production of key skills needed to use information and communication technology (ICT), with special focus on new media.
• Development of an age-sensitive Web 2.0 platform to eliminate fundamental barriers to the use of new media by using an appropriate ICT infrastructure
• Embedding this Web 2.0 platform as an integral element in the developed learning scenarios. In this way, older people are encouraged to sustainably use the learning platform.
• Introducing people 50+ to techniques for the active and sustainable use of new media through related ICT training, including training using the developed Web 2.0 platform and learning scenarios.

The Learn and Network project is coordinated by the Uranschek GmbH training center, a leading marketing agent for computer courses for seniors. The research group Information Systems within DIGITAL is responsible for the development of the age-sensitive Web 2.0 platform. Youspi ensures the usability of the Web 2.0 platform. The Department of Adult and Vocational Education of the University of Klagenfurt (Alps-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt) contributes the necessary expertise for adult education and teaching.

Das Projekt Learn & Network führt ältere Menschen über den dualen Ansatz Lernen und Netzwerken zur selbstbestimmten Nutzung ?Neuer Medien? heran. Integrales Element in drei Lernszenarien zur Nutzung Neuer Medien ist eine speziell auf die Bedürfnisse der Generation 50+ zugeschnittene Web-2.0-Plattform. Mit dieser sollen sich ältere Menschen aktiv und nachhaltig miteinander vernetzen können.

Die Projektziele sind wie folgt definiert:

• Entwicklung von Lernszenarien und Lernstandards für die nachhaltige Bildung von Schlüsselkompetenzen in der Nutzung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie (IKT) unter besonderer Berücksichtigung Neuer Medien.
• Entwicklung einer alterssensiblen Web-2.0-Plattform, um grundlegende Barrieren für die Nutzung Neuer Medien mit Hilfe einer adäquaten IKT-Infrastruktur abzubauen
• Einbettung dieser Web-2.0-Plattform als integrales Element in den entwickelten Lernszenarien, um ältere Menschen durch Lernen mit der Plattform zur nachhaltigen Nutzung derselben anzuregen
• Heranführen der Generation 50+ an eine aktive und nachhaltige Nutzung Neuer Medien durch begleitende IKT-Schulungen unter Einbeziehung der entwickelten Web-2.0-Plattform sowie der Lernszenarien.

Das Projekt Learn and Network wird vom Schulungszentrum Uranschek GmbH koordiniert, dem Marktführer für EDV-Kurse von Senioren. Die Forschungsgruppe Informationssysteme von DIGITAL ist verantwortlich für die Entwicklung der alterssensiblen Web 2.0 Plattform. youspi stellt die Usability der Web 2.0 Plattform sicher und die Abteilung für Erwachsenen- und Berufsbildung der Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt bringt das notwendige Wissen im Bereich Lernen und Lehren mit Erwachsenen ein.
