The SERSCIS  project is researching and developing adaptive service-oriented technologies for creating, monitoring and managing secure, resilient and highly available information systems underpinning critical infrastructures. So they can survive faults, mismanagement and cyber-attack, and automatically adapt to dynamically changing requirements arising from the direct impact on the critical infrastructure from natural events, accidents and malicious attacks.

The project will use a service-oriented architecture to make interconnected ICT systems more manageable, allowing dynamic adaptation to manage changing situations, and counter the risk amplification effect of interconnectedness. To control the resulting ICT components, the project will develop:

  • tools and ontology for modelling of critical infrastructure including ICT components, to capture their requirements, behaviour and compositional nature;
  • system dependability metrics and agreements, and dynamic governance mechanisms, including dynamic trust management;
  • system composition mechanisms allowing dynamic discovery and interconnection of component services; 
  • decision support tools that exploit underlying semantic models to provide situational awareness of system status and threats.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH will work in the field of Service Composition and will provide innovative service composition models capable of mapping overall system dependability and QoS requirements onto the workflows it must support. These workflows can then be dynamically composed, configured and executed at run-time using the most appropriate ICT services to achieve the required end-to-end dependability. SERSCIS will use a hybrid approach for service composition by combining semantic web reasoning and applicable optimization strategies.

These innovations will be validated in an information-intensive critical transport infrastructure that requires richly interconnected ICT: air traffic flow control and airport airside process optimisation through collaborative decision making in airports.

Kameramontage

Im Rahmen des EU-Projekts SCOVIS  wurden im Mai beim Projektpartner Nissan Motor Iberica SA (Barcelona) Videos aufgenommen.
Dabei überwachten an mehreren Tagen 8 Neztwerk-Kameras die Schichtarbeit eines Teils der Automobilherstellung.

Das Institut für Informationssysteme ist für die Entwicklung von intelligenten Algorithmen für die Kameranetzwerkkoordination verantwortlich. Deshalb übernahmen zwei Mitarbeiter des Instituts die Montage und Kalibrierung der Kameras.
Auf Basis dieser Daten werden in dem Projekt Systeme entworfen, die sich selbstständig konfigurieren und mittels automatischer Workflow- und Verhaltensanalyse dazu beitragen, dass Monitoringsysteme in Zukunft vielseitiger und leichter einsetzbar werden.
