The expert panel consisted of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Franz Riemelmoser, Deputy Head of Department and Head of R&amp;D in the Engineering &amp; IT programme area, Professor of Mechanical Engineering,<\/li>\n<li>Mathias Brandst\u00f6tter, Head of the ADMiRE Research Centre (ADditive Manufacturing, intelligent Robotics and Engineering), Professor of Robotics and Mechatronic Systems<\/li>\n<li>Philipp Hasen\u00f6hrl, responsible for the development of the 3D printing centre,<\/li>\n<li>Pascal Nicolay, Head of CiSMAT (Carinthia Institute for Smart Materials), Professor of Applied Physics and Sensor Technology<\/li>\n<li>Roland Willmann, Head of the AMAViS2 (Agile Production Systems) research group, Professor of Industrial Management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guided tour through the research departments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Steyrergasse 17, the guests were given a tour of the research and development departments of JOANNEUM RESEARCH DIGITAL. Herwig Zeiner presented the IoT Innovation Space, while Lucas Paletta gave a tour of the redesigned Human Factors Lab of the Connected Computing research group. Other highlights included insights into the acoustics lab of the Intelligent Acoustic Solutions research group and a demonstration of hyperspectral analysis in the image processing lab of the Intelligent Vision Applications group.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discussion of joint research topics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The aim of the visit was to identify potential topics for joint research projects and to lay the foundations for future collaborations. The discussions focussed primarily on the processes involved in 3D printing, the integration of sensors in 3D printing, the circular economy and the use of passive materials. These topics offer great potential for innovative research approaches and industrial applications that can advance both JOANNEUM RESEARCH and the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outlook for future collaborations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The visit ended with an agreement to develop concrete research projects and project proposals in the near future in order to further deepen the topics discussed and intensify the cooperation between the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and JOANNEUM RESEARCH. Both institutions are optimistic that this co-operation will produce ground-breaking results and innovations.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018The ongoing collaboration between research institutions opens up additional potential for Carinthia as a business and research location.
