Skin Ageing

Skin ageing is a complex and multifactorial process continuously leading to a loss of structural integrity and physical functions of the skin. The consequences are manifold. During intrinsic skin ageing, skin structure and skin barrier are getting weaker. Hormonal changes play a crucial role in this, as do other factors. However, structural changes of the skin not only have visible effects such as wrinkles, but they also change essential skin functions followed by a higher risk of various skin diseases including skin tumors, traumatic damage and wound healing disorders.

COREMED has the goal to improve the understanding of fundamental processes in skin ageing and to specifically influence these processes. With this knowledge, COREMED supports the development of new products and therapies.
