Dementia – this widespread disease is in its dimensions still not part of the public awareness. The latest figures about this disease are alarming: at the moment, around 130.000 people with dementia are living in Austria and approximately 1.3 million in Germany – till 2050 the numbers will double according to the latest forecasts.
AktivDaheim combines multimodal training functions and serious gaming through innovative software. Scientific studies show that motoric and social activity is influencing the course of the disease positively. In the future, the new training assistant should activate and motivate the clients, as well as stimulate the cognitive processes. Valuable information about the training success, short- and long-term, delivers further information about the course of the disease and about the effectiveness of different therapy methods. This information is the base for a dynamic diagnosis system for permanent determination of the dementia stadium.
At the 26th Alzheimer Europe Conference in Copenhagen the team of AktivDaheim was presenting the project for the first time on an international level. Already now in the research project first international contacts were established and the results of the revolutionary development were presented. Under the direction of JOANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH the companies FameL GmbH and bouncingbytes, as well as the Sozialverein Deutschlandsberg have set the objective to launch the training assistant till the end of 2017. The project AktivDaheim is supported by the BMVIT as part of the program “benefit” of the Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG).
