The Styrian Business Promotion Agency SFG and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG jointly organized the "Global Innovation Summit 2021", which combined the "Eureka Global Innovation Summit" with the "Future Day of the Styrian Economy".

JOANNEUM RESEARCH organized a session on "Digital Sensor Innovations made in Styria" as part of this event. After welcoming words by Managing Director Univ.-Prof. DI Dr. Wolfgang Pribyl, MBA, the introduction was given by DI Dr. Heinz Mayer (Director DIGITAL), who also moderated the session.

The session started with a round of presentations by renowned market leaders from the region, who highlighted the latest technical sensor developments that are enabling groundbreaking innovations in a wide range of application areas with global reach.

This was followed by a panel discussion with successful founders and entrepreneurs from Styria to explore what it takes to turn the latest technology developments into innovative solutions and commercially successful products for an international market.

Finally, various initiatives were presented that support innovation and start-ups at regional, transnational and European level.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH also presented itself in the virtual exhibition galaxy, on the one hand as a company, and on the other hand in the thematic field "Post COVID" with the topic "Miniature Laboratory" (Lab-on-a-foil).
