At the beginning of May, the project QuanCo, the Quantum Computing Challenge, a cross-research group collaboration at the DIGITAL Institute, was officially launched. Under the project management of Hermann Fürntratt, Machine Vision Applications, colleagues from the research groups Intelligent Acoustic Solutions and Connecting Computing will dedicate themselves to the development of Quantum Computing (QC) competencies.

In the 3-year agreement project, Hannah Venzl, head of the Fraunhofer office of the competence network Quantum Computing, acts as a reviewer. Under her expertise, the project will explore new ways of implementing classical algorithms from the fields of image processing, acoustic signal processing and machine learning in the QC domain.

In addition, intensive networking with the scientific community in the field of quantum computing is envisaged so that application-oriented research in this emerging field of technology is also given space in a timely manner.
