Novel information and communication solutions can support first responders in coping with different and often dynamically changing security situations, as well as help to allocate human resources efficiently. Such situations can be ¡§flashmobs¡¨, mass events involving different locations (train station, event site, inner city, etc.). For command and control tasks this is challenging, since the dynamics of such events cannot be predicted and necessary information (timely and of sufficient quality) is often not available to commanders and teams to conduct the mission efficiently. Solutions comprising reliable voice and data communication, multi-sensor data (audio, images, video, body sensors), and mobile assistance systems can help to coordinate first responders as well as generate near real-time situational pictures of high quality.
