With immediate effect, we are filling the following position at our Institute DIGITAL:

Head of research group “Machine Vision Applications”

 

The research group "Machine Vision Applications" develops solutions and products based on computer vision with massive use of artificial intelligence. Visual information processing affects numerous fields of the economy such as production, health, media, traffic, environment and trade. An exemplary field of application is quality assurance with contactless optical measurement technology. Here, 2D/3D recording systems for high-speed acquisition of continuous material flow, hyperspectral acquisition systems and 3D data acquisition by means of stereo and laser-light-sectioning are used to solve highly challenging customer problems. Computer vision is also an indispensable component of automated mobility, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), robotics, and space exploration.

In the challenging position as Head of Research Group you will be responsible for the professional and disciplinary leadership of the research group "Machine Vision Applications ". In coordination with the institute management, you will take responsibility for the scientific and economic orientation of the research group and ensure its establishment and continuous development with a focus on the following tasks/activities:

  • Management of the research group with approx. 30 staff members
  • Design of the research strategy with budget responsibility within the framework of annual planning
  • External representation of the subject area, acquisition of research projects and direct development contracts
  • Influence and permanent involvement in national and international networks, programs and committees
  • Publication activities and participation in conferences

 

Your profile includes

  • Relevant degree (preferably with dissertation) and excellent professional qualifications in at least one of the areas: Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning
  • Excellent networking in the national and European research environment
  • Experience in team leadership, pursuit and achievement of economic goals
  • Experience in acquisition and management of research projects and contract developments

The company is subject to the collective agreement for non-university research. The annual gross salary will be at least EUR 80,000 (all-in-contract). According to your previous experience and qualifications, there is a willingness to overpay. In addition, we offer performance-related remuneration components.
