Starting January 2023, we are filling the following position at our DIGITAL Institute:
Head of research group "Remote Sensing and Geoinformation"
The "Remote Sensing and Geoinformation" research group develops solutions and products for satellite-based environmental monitoring, for security-relevant surveillance tasks and for mobile multisensory data acquisition and analysis, for example in the form of digital twins of road infrastructure. The range of data used extends from optical data, thermal data, video data, laser scanner data to SAR data.
The basis for this is formed by software packages developed in-house to create processing chains for geocoding, deriving 3D information from stereo data, SAR interferometry and for object-based image classification and change detection.
In the challenging function as head of the research group, you are responsible for the technical and disciplinary leadership of the research group "Remote Sensing and Geoinformation". In coordination with the institute's management, you will work on the scientific and economic orientation of the research group and ensure its establishment and continuous further development with a focus on the following tasks/activities:
- Management of the research group with approx. 30 staff members
- Preparation of and adherence to the annual research programme and budget within the framework of annual planning
- Acquisition of research projects
- Influence and permanent involvement in national and international networks, programmes and committees
- Publication activities and participation in professional conferences
Your profile includes:
- Relevant degree (preferably with dissertation) and demonstrable competence in the field of remote sensing, geoinformation and informatics
- Several years of experience in the acquisition, coordination and management of research projects
- International network in the scientific community
- Experience in leading teams
- Working language is German, very good English skills are required

The company is subject to the collective agreement for non-university research. The annual gross salary will be at least EUR 90,000 (all-in-contract). However, according to your previous experience and qualifications, there is a willingness to pay more. In addition, we offer performance-related remuneration components.
