Scientist / Post Doc – Large-area micro- and nanopatterning

Our MATERIALS institute focuses primarily on micro- und nanotechnology, surface functionalization, materials science, sensors und laser-production technologies.

For our research group Hybrid Electronics and Patterning, located in Weiz/Styria, we are currently seeking a

Scientist / Post Doc – Large-area micro- and nanopatterning

on a full-time basis for a period of three years. An extension of the contract after this period is possible.

We are looking for a scientist with a strong background in micro- and nanopatterning including experience in high-resolution lithography techniques such as nanoimprinting to support our activities on defining multi length-scale patterns on large areas.

In this position, you will be responsible for research and development in the area of R2R-UV-Nanoimprinting and your tasks will include development of micro/nanopatterned foil systems for versatile applications in the fields of photonics, electronics, medical diagnostics, security, and packaging. You will be involved in the improvement and optimization of R2R-compatible bio-based resins for UV-nanoimprinting, the development of mastering and upscaling processes (such as e.g. step & repeat UV nanoimprinting) and the manufacturing of large stamps for R2R UV-nanoimprinting. Further topics are the optimization of our R2R process flow covering pre-treatment, resist coating, patterning/nanoimprinting, in-line characterization and backend processes towards full automation.

Minimum requirement is a Master`s degree or doctorate, respectively (physics, chemistry, materials science). Preferably, you have relevant professional experience in the industry or research sector as well as work experience in national and international research projects. Excellent spoken and written command of English is obligatory.

You are a solution-oriented, reliable person with deep interest and knowledge in scientific work. Furthermore, your personality is characterized by reliability, strong communication skills, accuracy as well as creativity.

According to the collective agreement for employees in non-university research for this position the minimum monthly gross salary is € 3,130,- (full-time). Depending on your qualifications and experience, higher remuneration is possible.
