Locating and tracking of object and persons using passive RFID tags

Content

Locating and tracking of objects or persons using passive RFID systems is used in various cases. Depending on the application and the type of reader several different approaches for evaluating the distance to the tag are known. Important solutions are, e.g., receive signal strength indication (RSSI), angle of arrival estimation, round-trip time measurements. Up to know none of these methods could provide a high location accuracy for a wide range of applications. Emphasis is given to the development of MIMO based locating and tracking of a tag. By combining the reader and the developed signal processing algorithms the performance of the system under realistic operation conditions can be verified.

Planned work: Literature study and implementation of adequate algorithms.
