An international conference on Energy Communities was held in Lisbon on 9 October. Energy communities have been defined within the framework of the EU's current climate and energy package, and corresponding national legal frameworks are currently being developed. The conference was aimed in particular at representatives of the energy sector, policy makers, researchers, journalists and NGOs. Dorian Frieden of JOANNEUM RESEARCH LIFE was part of the panel "Regulatory Energy Communities: A National and European vision" together with representatives of the European Commission, the Portuguese regulator ERSE and REScoop. He presented trends in the national transposition of the related EU directives. The conference was organised, among others, by the Portuguese cooperative Coopérnico in the framework of the Horizon 2020 project COMPILE, in which JOANNEUM RESEARCH LIFE is also a partner.
