Consequences of Climate Change and Land Use

The different forms of land use management (forestry, agriculture, green corridors, etc.) can have a strong impact on the carbon cycle and, thus, on climate. While land management directly affects climate warming through changes in the carbon cycle, various other effects such as albedo and the production of condensation nuclei that promote cloud formation also play major roles.

Ultimately, different forms of land management also strongly influence the regional water balance. Land management - especially those related to agriculture and forestry - affects both climate and climate change. This effect is also relevant for regional water resource management. Beyond this, climate change is important for georisk management, especially with reference to soil erosion and landslides.
