On 24 April 2026, the Long Night of Research will take place across Austria for the twelfth time. With more than 30,000 visitors, Styria is already the leading research region in the country. Networking and cooperation between companies, universities and research institutions are the key to success.<\/p>\n
\"The Long Night of Research 2026 sends a strong signal for knowledge transfer \u2013 it is at the heart of our mission. We show how ideas are turned into tailor-made solutions for business and society. With its participation in Carinthia and Burgenland, Styria is becoming a scientific hub along the southern axis,\" emphasises Heinz Mayer, managing director of the state-owned research company, which also coordinates the Long Night of Research in our federal state on behalf of the Province of Styria.<\/p>\n
Science and research are the foundation for progress and successful development \u2013 they affect all of our lives. This makes it all the more important to make their significance visible to the general public. The Long Night of Research does just that: it brings research directly to the people and makes it tangible. Our young Styrians in particular can experience how exciting science is \u2013 and perhaps it will spark the curiosity of one or two of them to pursue a career in research themselves. After all, enthusiasm for knowledge is the first step towards an innovative future,\" emphasises Willibald Ehrenh\u00f6fer, Regional Minister for Science and Research.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Around 70 decision-makers from the fields of science, research and innovation took the start of the Long Night of Research 2026 on 25 September 2025 as an opportunity to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Styria as a centre of science. One focus was the relaunch of the southern region with the start of the Koralm Railway at the turn of the year.<\/p>\n
The Long Night of Research will take place again in Styria in 2026 at the established locations of Graz, Leoben, Kapfenberg and Weiz. It will once more be coordinated by the Styrian research company JOANNEUM RESEARCH, with all Styrian universities and research institutions as well as local companies acting as partners.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
