BARS: Benchmarking and Reporting Service. A Web Based Tool for Quality Management in Diabetes Care

Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most widespread chronic diseases. Quality Management (QM) improves the quality of care for diabetic patients, but requires user-friendly, low-cost and powerful software. The web application approach offers numerous advantages compared to standard standalone or client-server software for QM purposes. In this paper an application service for QM in the treatment of diabetic patients, which is in use in Austria and Germany, is described.
