Evaluation of Government Funded R&D Activities

Recently, the impact on innovation, structural change and technology leadership in European Economies of R&D policy instruments is widely discussed. Various evaluation studies have attracted increasing attention of researchers and policy makers. At the same time, the evaluation methods used to analyse the impacts of R&D policies have been improved and become more sophisticated.The aim of this conference is to discuss recent scientific contributions to the understanding of effects and implications of government funded R&D activities. It will focus on recent theoretic, qualitative and quantitative studies and the exploration of different approaches to evaluate their effects. The ZEW (Germany), the JOANNEUM RESEARCH and the PLATFORM
(Austria) organized a conference 

  • to present recent theoretical, qualitative and 
    quantitative studies,
  • to discuss scientific contributions to the evaluation
    of government funded R&D activities,
  • to discuss experiences from US evaluation and standards
    (SBIR, GPRA aso.) for European R&D policies.

The conference is designed for two days and it is sponsored
and participated by

  3. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
    (OECD), France and
  4. the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture
    (BMBWK), Austria.
