Poly4EmI

The project consisted of providing the scientific basis for the development a joint platform of regional clusters in the field the biopolymer based industry in Slovenia (in the framework of Poly4EmI, that is one of 6 projects awarded funding by the European Commission (DG Enterprise and Industry) within the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) call ("Clusters and Entrepreneurship in support of Emerging Industries").

The scientific basis consisted of a bibliometric and a patent data analysis to identify key experts, global networks and dynamics in the field based on a taxonomy developed by key researchers from the Polymer Competence Center Leoben as well as a Delphi analysis addressing global key researchers and key innovators. The aim was to identify and explore new technologies and areas of research, as well as the ways in which cross-sectoral trends affect industrial structures, which might in turn lead to the emergence of new or the redundancy of existing industries. Finally biopolymer based value chains were developed on basis specific scenarios including key stages and actors.
