The 2013 edition of the workshop series will be held at UAS Technikum Wien on 23rd and 24th of May 2013. The organizers envision strengthening the cooperation between academia and industry. Therefore, the contributions and participation from industry is encouraged.

Program Highlights

The program will include two invited talks, oral presentations of referred contributions, a student-paper track as well as robot and industry presentations/demonstrations.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Daniele Nardi, Sapienza Università di Roma
His fields of interest include:Daniele Nardi is full Professor at Sapienza Univ. Roma, Facoltà Ingegneria dell'Informazione, Informatica, Statistica, Dept. Computer, Control and Management Engineering "A. Ruberti". He graduated (Laurea,5-years) in Electrical Engineering, Politecnico Torino, 1981, and obtained the Master Computer and System Engineering, Sapienza Univ. Roma, 1984. He is researcher at Sapienza since 1988 (full professor in 2000). He was recipient of "IJCAI-91 Publisher's Prize", prize "Intelligenza Artificiale 1993"; he is ECCAI Fellow and President of RoboCup Federation (2011).
He leads the research laboratory "Cognitive Robot Teams".

Cognitive Robotics: reasoning capabilities on mobile robots, reasoning about action, context-based architectures.Localization, Navigation, Perception: particle filters for SLAM, basic motion behaviours, context-based navigation, semantic mapping.Cooperation in multi-robot systems: dynamic task/role allocation, cooperation and team behaviours, multi-robot exploration and surveillanceMulti-agent systems: token based task allocation, distributed information fusion, simulation of complex rescue and surveillance scenarios.Human Robot Interaction: multimodal interfaces, gesture and speech.Application domains: Ambient Intelligence and robots to support elderly people, Disaster Response robots to explore and gather information from the environment, Soccer Player robots for RoboCup competitions.


Prof. Branislav Borovac, University of Novi Sad
Branislav Borovac was born in 1951. in Leskovac, Serbia. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Novi Sad in 1982. and 1986., respectively.

He became Assistant Professor of Engineering Design in 1987, Assistant Professor of Robotics in 1988, Associate Professor of Robotics in 1993 and since 1998, he has been Professor of Robotics, all at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. He is coauthor of two research monograph (published by Springer-Verlag and CRC Press), and over 50 journal papers. He has been cited over 2000 times. He has been Visiting professor at at University of Versailles, France, (2009), and at Prince of Songkla University at Hat Yai, Thailand (2012). Since 2010 he is Associate Editor of International Journal of Humanoid Robotics.

His research interests include humanoid robotics, biped locomotion, robot modeling and control, industrial robotics, sensors and sensor information integration, mechatronics, product design, use of force sensors in contact tasks and assembly, ...
