IU shared at the Association of Moving Image Archivists Conference 2020 its experiences in operating this large-scale project and reports about the effectiveness of using the VidiCert quality control software for archive\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joanneum.at\/vidicert\/film-scanning-qc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Film Scanning QC<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"content-text-justify\">The presentation gives valuable insights into:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">what quality control criteria IU applies for image and sound QC as well as for submission package QC,<\/li>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">how the film digitisation and quality control workflow has been setup and how time-efficient it operates,<\/li>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">how IU adapted the QC workflow in response to the Corona pandemic,<\/li>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">examples and a long term statistics of human verified image and sound issues, including details about type and quantity<\/li>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">\n<p class=\"content-text-justify\">that the implemented quality control workflow allowed to reduce the average rate of image and sound issues by a factor of six,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"content-text-justify\">and consequently that the audiovisual quality of digitised film as well as the efficiency of the whole scanning and quality control workflow is improved for all involved parties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"content-text-justify\">We from\u00a0<strong>JOANNEUM RESEARCH<\/strong>\u00a0are delighted that VidiCert is playing a key role in supporting IU to meet their image and sound quality standards for migrating film to digital preservation files.
