OP-Check

The digital checklist and cross-professional process documentation for surgical procedures.

OP-Check supports the entire process from pre-op to post-op, increases process quality, contributes to error reduction and thus makes work easier. OP-Check is as flexible as paper, but fully integrated into your hospital information system.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH has developed the digital surgical checklist together with the Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft (KAGes) and the LKH University Hospital Graz to support medical staff in decision-making and processes. The aim is to increase patient safety and acceptance of the application.

Patient safety during surgical procedures

In order to improve the safety of surgical procedures and reduce complications and deaths related to operations, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has developed a standardised checklist. Improved communication and structured procedures are intended to reduce the number of avoidable errors and complications. Studies show that consistent use of the checklist leads to significant improvements in surgical outcomes, with complications reduced by more than 30% in some cases.

What are the advantages of the digital OP checklist?

The digital OP-checklist digitally maps the WHO-recommended Surgical Safety Checklist and supports the entire process from pre-op to post-op, increasing process quality, helping to reduce errors and thus making work easier. OP-Check is as flexible as paper, but fully integrated into your hospital information system.

System Integration

  • OP-Check runs as a HIS-integrated application in the hospital's IT network.
  • OP-Check can be accessed on any device connected to the HIS, regardless of whether a tablet PC, laptop, clinical workstation or ward trolley is used.
  • OP-Check communicates via a synchronous data interface provided by the HIS, meaning that it always has the latest HIS data available for every application.
